Films for Classroom Use

Booking Films for Classroom Use

Faculty, staff and graduate students may reserve audiovisual material in advance for pickup at the Media Commons, UTM or UTSC by using the Booking feature in LibrarySearch. Find the item you wish to book in the catalogue, select Get It In Person, and then select the Request option. Finally, select Booking as the Request Type.

A booking may be placed up to 1 year in advance and may be booked for up to 2 weeks.

Alternatively, to place a title from the Media Commons collection on extended course reserve, please email details to media.commons@utoronto.ca

Delivery Across Campuses

Films are eligible for delivery between the Media Commons, UTM, UTSC and Downsview.

To request delivery of a film, find the item you wish to borrow in LibrarySearch, select Get It In Person, and then select the Request option. Finally, select your preferred pickup location from the drop-down menu and submit.

If you need a film available for a specific day (e.g. for a scheduled screening), refer to the booking feature outlined above.

Purchase Requests

Faculty and students may submit a Purchase Request for Blu-ray and DVD media. This process may take up to several weeks before materials enter the library system. Please be aware that not all films are actively available for purchase, as many older films may be out of print and many newer films may not have physical media distribution.
